Hi DU Admins
The problem was that I wasn't able to mount 2 of a group of CDs I
recently burnt on some alphas even though I could mount them on a PC,
a Mac and on some older alphas running DU.
Thanks to Jason Xu, Marie-Claude Vialatte, Gary George,
Serguei Patchkovskii and Cory Erickson for their replies.
Suggestions ranged over: was I using the correct device?; is the
CDFS option in the kernel config?; were the CDs burnt in the
correct format?; was I using the correct mount options?
The answer to all these is yes proven by the fact that I can
mount all the other CDs that I burnt without problem and
I can mount the two problem CDs under other OS's and also
on other alphas running DU.
Here's the evidence:
It's only 2 out of 10 disks that cause problems.
I can read them under NT, on a Mac, and on some alphas running DU.
They're both copies of the same data set - the largest data set.
They're both perfect copies: verified on an alpha where I could
mount them.
The most interesting reply came from Serguei who said:

They were recorded in one session so that's not the problem but maybe
it's related since it's the au series PWSs that give trouble. I also
couldn't mount the problem disks on an AlphaStation 200 4/233.
I still suspect it's the size of the data set that's the problem.
I'm going to stay below 550MB from now on.
Regards
Ian
