SUMMARY;
Your 'dot' files on the remote computer do something X11-related
such as
xhost +
or automatically start an xclock
regardless of whether X11 has been started in this login session.
Any such command should be behind an 'if' statement which decides
whether X11 is running.
Look at the .cshrc .login .profile scripts on the remote computer.
