Migrating to EMC-Symmetrix

Hello alphas,
we are about to migrate all harddisk devices, which contains Informix
Databases to EMC Equipment (Symmetrix 3700-18). Please let me know, if
the following procedure is appropiate to shift all existing data over to
EMC by using LSM functions. The actual configuration is as follows:

A
- one fully mirrored rootdg diskgroup, which should stay unchanged, ie.
remains in the DEC-system
- one fully mirrored inf_dg diskgroup with two plexes per volume, which
contains all databases and should be migrated

B
what we want to do is to bring every EMC-devices into the inf_dg
diskgroup, then creating a third plex of each EMC-harddisk, adding it to
the appropiate volume and start mirroring. This way a secure copy of
data should be given! After mirroring everything onto EMC, the,
remaining "DEC-harddisk-Plexes" should be removed after a reboot shows
that everything is ok.
Now my questions:

- is there a way to detach the appropiate plexes from each volume but
leaving the logical connection between the volume intact. My intention
here is creating a recovery mecanism! I know, that a "volplex detach"
should be ok, but how could i prevent LSM from its normal behavior of
reconnecting those plexes after the next reboot?

- is it possible to create an new diskgroup out of the EMC-devices -
'emc_dg' for example - and mirror those disk with them of the 'inf_dg'
This way we probably could operate with "voldg import" respectively
"voldg deport"?

- does anyone already got some experiences? BTW: using LSM isn't
compelling. Please let me know!!!
