The IMAPserver had a corrupt control folder yesterday morning. After
recovering
from this we noticed we had some messages that had been delivered to the
IMAP server but not delivered to the recipient. We have decided to hand
deliver these messages. If the enclosed message is a duplicate please
disregard.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Hello,

I am trying to compile a shareware statistical package called "R". The
package needs to compile some fortran sub-routines. On the advice of
the
install notes, I ran out and grabbed GNU's g77 fortran compiler. Also
on
the advice of the install notes, I used gcc 2.8.1 for my cc compiler,
and am
using gmake. gcc and g77 both fail on a few of the objects - ld returns
to
me twice with some unresolved .o files. I had the following suggestion
from
the support list of "R" users:

********************************************************

Susan,

I compiled R 0.63 on OSF 4.0C using Dec's cc and f2c. I had to install
Gnu's make. I have tried gcc/g77 and have not had much success with it,
and since the cc/f2c combination worked, I stopped there.

I was planning to do 0.63.1 but I'll probably download and try 0.63.2
instead...

If you get the gcc/g77 (or egcs) to work under OSF, I would like to
know.

BTW, there was someone else that tipped me onto the cc/f2c combo, but I
can't seem to find his message.

********************************************************

My question is - what is f2c and where do I get it? Also, if anyone
else
has ever heard of this "R" software, I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks,
