Folks-
In setting up V4.0d on a Personal Workstation, I'm
not sure how to decide if I need to set "locking" on
NFS. Exercising the NFS Configuration Application widget
only seems to add or change the following lines in the
/etc/rc.config file:
NFS_CONFIGURED="1"
export NFS_CONFIGURED
NFSLOCKING="0"
export NFSLOCKING
NUM_NFSIOD="7"
export NUM_NFSIOD
I have a mixture of old SunOS, Solaris, Irix, HP-unix,
and Ultrix machines that have to cross-mount disks with
the new Personal Workstations. I'm guessing that I should
NOT specify NFS locking, i.e. I should have NFSLOCKING="0"
in the /etc/rc.config file, but I'm not sure. Are there
any file security or data transfer performance issues that
I should worry about? Anyone out there have any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
