Hello managers,
Back in November I reported a problem with some mail not being delivered from
sendmail 8.9.1a to Exchange Server 5.0. The symptoms were "connection reset"
and "I/O error" messages in the sendmail log, and the affected mail would often
bounce after repeated delivery attempts.
I had suggestions from Sheila Hollenbaugh (check MTU size) and Madhavi Ananth
(check sendmail mailing list and contact sendmail.org) as well as from the
staff at sendmail.org (more MIME-related patches, and reference to FAQ item on
these errors). These didn't fix the problem, so I logged a support call with
Microsoft and (after reverting to the Compaq-supported sendmail 8.8.8) Compaq.
The problem has now been fixed by upgrading Exchange server from version 5.0
to version 5.5 service pack 2, on the advice of Compaq support.
