I have an Alpha clone running 4.0D Patchlevel #2 that I inherited. I need
to put patch 3 on to it to fix the userdel bug primarily.
I've not done a system-wide patch in the past so I just wanted to email
and see if their were any outstanding caveats involved before I press the
return key.
If I understand the procedure, you would do the following:
1) Boot to single-user mode [>>> boot -fl s]
2) Mount everything RW
3) Unpack the .tar of the patch
4) execute dupatch
5) follow the menus
6) Get some coffee, pray if you think it will help
7) Rebuild kernel
7a) doconfig -c HOSTNAME
7b) cp /usr/sys/HOSTNAME/vmunix /vmunix
8) Reboot
Did I miss anything substantial?
