attached mail follows:
I am having trouble getting dxterm to run. Here's what happened.
I bought a new Alphaserver which came with DUX installed. I think
it was version 4.0D. In order to repartition the disk and to lower the
version to 4.0A which I know better, I installed 4.0A.
During the installation I repartitioned the disk. Then I restored
/usr and usr2 from backup to get my customized files from the original
system that this one replaced. I was careful not to overwrite any
files but the ones I had customized.
During the installation I renamed my node, but after the restore
it reverted back to its old name. I don't know exactly why.
Anyhow when I try to run dxterm it fails with the error in the
console:X Error code BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
I tried using -d :0.0 and -d node-name:0.0 and -d localhost:0.0
None of these worked.
Then I tried using .Xauthority and even modifying it with dxauth to
several variations on the display name. didn't help
Strange but all othr X apps seem to work like bookreader, xterm, xv etc.
Right now I'm at a loss. I far prefer dxterm to xterm.
Anyone have any ideas? This is DUX 4.0A on an alphastation 400.
TIA
