LSM

Dear OSF Managers,

I am struggling to get to grips with LSM under OSF, I have used logical
storage under AIX and found it extremely easy using the SMIT interface.

Basically I have inherited a system that already has LSM configured and
running.

I have added a new drive the system and added it to the volume group
'rootdg' using voldiskadm.

# 'voldisk list' - shows the new disk rz17 as part of the group

DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
rz1 sliced rz1 rootdg online
rz17 sliced rz17 rootdg online
rz2 sliced rz2 rootdg online
rz3 sliced rz3 rootdg online
rz6 sliced rz6 rootdg online

My wish here is to grow a current mount /rdbms so it can extend across some
or all of the new disk.

root031#rdbms 716800 569354 139328
81% /rdbms

#volprint -st

The new disk does not appear in the above information as no volumes have
been created on it.

The information about the 'rdbms' volume (the one I want to extend) is shown
from the 'volprint -vl' command:-

Volume: rdbms
info: len=1433600
type: usetype=fsgen
state: state=ACTIVE kernel=ENABLED
assoc: plexes=rdbms-01
policies: read=SELECT (round-robin) exceptions=GEN_DET_SPARSE
flags: open writeback
logging: type=BLKNO loglen=1 serial=0/0 (disabled)
device: minor=8 bdev=40/8 cdev=40/8 path=/dev/vol/rootdg/rdbms
perms: user=root group=system mode=0600

Looking at the above information I presume further plexes need to be made
available to the 'rdbms' volume to allow it to be expanded.

Can anyone advise on the simplest way of using the new disk rz17 and growing
the rdbms volume onto it.

Thanks in anticipation,
Mike Whorley
