Sendmail - Yet another thing..

Hi Gang,

I've looked over the doc and perhaps I missed it, but I don't see the
way to do what I need to do. Are there any sendmail configuration
experts out there that can give me a shove in the right direction?

I'm running Sendmail 8.9.0/8.9.0; on an Alpha 2100, DU 4.0

The problem is with relaying. I upgraded sendmail last year after
my server was hijacked and used to send 60k Japanese husk pillow ads
to AOL subscribers.

I've got the current sendmail setup to allow all relays from my domain
since we have a bunch of people with PC's here. I also use the
black hole feature to disallow known spammers, and the access.data
database to control access.

My problem is that I have field people who want to dial into their
local ISP, access our network across the Internet, but still use our
server as their SMTP server for outgoing mail. I've tried to get them
to use their ISP's SMTP service, but for some reason they can't/won't
whatever. Add to this that they do not have static IP addresses, and it
makes a big hole in my server.

I can block access to sendmail down to the level of a particular person
in the access.data file, for example:

sales_at_dweeb.net REJECT

But it seems (correct me if I'm wrong) that to allow relaying, one must
know the IP addr. of the source of the relay, or open the WHOLE domain.
For example:

207.xxx.76.114 RELAY
bellsouth.net RELAY

I can't be more restrictive as these big ISP's have MANY servers
and you can't know where the user will be coming from specifically.

I'd like to be able to allow individual accounts - as in our employees -
to access our server without opening sendmail to *everyone* at
bellsouth.net (for example).

Any suggestions?

TIA,
