How LX164 connect with PC using serial line?

Hi, all,

I want to use my pc connect with LX164 workstation.
My pc is running Win98, I have install hyperterminal.
But no modem installed. I use serial line (someone
made it for me) connect with LX164 directly. But
I can not get any information on my PC?

How LX164 connect with PC using serial line?
If someone knows, please help me.
