Two Different Zones on a DNS server

Hi,

I find this a bet confusing, is it possible to have two different zones on the same DNS server on the same Network segment ,
each Zone has a different Domain Name and its own set of hostnames ?

If the answer is yes. How can it be done ? and is it practical to do so ?
