SUMMARY: Netscape 4.5 and Java

Problem solved! Actually there were two problems. First of all, Glenda
Monzon <gmonzon_at_dticam.dtic.mil> pointed out that slow Java startups were a
problem documented in the DU 4.0E release notes. When I was patient enough
to wait for 18 (!!!!) minutes, Java started under 4.08.

Then I felt inspired to try one more time when I received a message from
Don <rye_at_jwfc.acom.mil> stating that he had installed 4.0E and downloaded
4.5 Communicator and it ran fine as root. Turns out that the owners and
groups for all of the Java files are out of whack! Just chown them to root
and chgrp them to system and it all runs fine. In fact, chown/chgrp
everything in the Netscape directory because some others are incorrect as
well.

Thanks to everyone else who sent suggestions.
