Still no progress. I received lots of suggestions about setting
MOZILLA_HOME (I was already doing that) and where all of the .jar files
should be located. I even tried to set the CLASSPATH environment variable
but the error message referenced the plugin directory. When I changed the
environment variable for the plugins, it referenced the java files!
I got exasperated and dumped 4.5 and downloaded and installed 4.08. Now it
will give me the "Starting Java" message and then consume 95+% of the CPU
and do nothing. I tried to be patient but ended up killing the process
after 10 minutes of nothing but lots of CPU cycles.
This is really frustrating since I'm considering updating our Netscape
Directory Server to version 4.0. I just read the release notes and they
say that the administration of the server is ALL Java-based! Great, since
I can't make Java work! Any new ideas would be welcomed...
