Hi tru64-unix experts,

I do not understand a problem on my alpha-server.
What do I have:
    Digital UNIX V4.0B (Rev. 564)
    physical memory = 640.00 megabytes.
    available memory = 621.23 megabytes.
using 2449 buffers containing 19.13 megabytes of memory
    Master cpu at slot 0.
    Firmware revision: 5.0
    PALcode: OSF version 1.45
    AlphaServer 2100 4/200
    cpu 0 EV-4s 1mb b-cache
    cpu 1 EV-4s 1mb b-cache
    cpu 2 EV-4s 1mb b-cache

running ipcs (as root or as any user) I get

>> ipcs -a

Message Queues:
T ID KEY MODE OWNER GROUP CREATOR CGROUP CBYTES
QNUM
QBYTES LSPID LRPID STIME RTIME CTIME
/dev/kmem: No such device or address

but ls -l /dev/kmem
cr--r----- 1 root mem 2, 1 Jul 30 1997 /dev/kmem

and ls -l /usr/bin/ipcs
-rws--x--x 1 root bin 32768 Nov 16 1996 /usr/bin/ipcs

,testing ipcs on a 3000/600 with similar OS configuration is okay.
Where to search for the trick.
      Thanks in advance, Rainer
