Hi guys!
I need some advice...
Here is the "problem":
My company have intention to purchase new computer system. HW/SW
configuration will be something like:
- Two GS60 (former AS8200, 2CPU,4GB RAM each, DE500 NIC, Memory Channel)
- Two ESA10000 rack (4 HSZ70, ~300GB each). Both ESA10000 will be connected
to both GS60
- One TL894 (52 slot tape library with 4 drives)
- OS will be Tru64Unix, with TruCluster Production Server with Memory
Channel
- Also, our production application is based on Oracle Server 7.3.4 + some
unix shell scripts...
Therefore, we want to have Oracle Parallel Server.
As far as I know, TruCluster have only DRD services, so we must use LSM to
create enough partitions to store all tablespaces.
I have some doubt about this configuration:
- What is recommended size of swap partition (I think 3-4 times RAM ~12-16
GB)
- What is better (and faster) solutions: to create more disks on HSZ
controllers (like one mirror set is one disk device to host), or use LSM to
do that (create only few disks, and then use LSM to create partitions)
- Does TruCluster Production Server support load balancing between nodes
(like VMS cluster)
- Does TruCluster Production Server support disk services (like ASE), to
mount on one node at time, with failover capabilities
- What is recommended way to create backup of our data, and what we need for
that (both HW and SW)
AFAIK, Oracle Parallel Server use raw partition to store data on it. Regular
dump (or vdump) doesn't work with it. How I can create backup? And what I
need (Networker Save and Restore, Oracle Backup or whatever...)
I have also questions about users defined on both systems. Is there any way
to create same users on both systems (or one users database for all systems,
something like user database (UAF) on VMS clusters), without NIS.
If someone have any experience with similar configurations, please mail to
me Your comments
Any answer will be appreciated,
Thanks in advance
