I am trying to boot a replacement Alpha2100 from a copy of a running
system.
This has a SWXCR raid controller serving the disks.
Will boot OK from GENVMUNIX, but will not boot from a kernel built on the
machine.
Gives following error on console, starts loading vmunix, goes through
setting
up the devices, gets as far as:-
<snip console output>
lvm0: configured.
lvm1: configured.
bootdevice_parser: unknown protocol name 'RAID'
setconf: Bootdevice parser failed  to translate bootdevice RAID 0 8 0 0 0 0
 0.
panic (cpu 0): setconf: bootdevice parser failed
DUMP: No primary swap, no explicit dumpdev.
          Nowhere to put header, giving up.
halted CPU 0
halt code = 5
HALT instruction executed
PC = fffffc000046d380
Please could you advise what may be the problem with this. Is it some
incorrectly set console variable?
Regards
Mark Cuthbert
