Dear all,
I am very confused. I have upgraded sendmail on my DU 4.0D box to
8.9.3 from 8.9.0 and the old config file is now broken. I have checked
the release notes and no mention is made of changes to the config
file, or at least none which I make use of.
The only difference between the 8.9.0 and 8.9.3 installation is that
the box is now "upgraded" to Patch Kit #3. Has something changed in
some library??
What breaks is envelope re-writing. I use USERDB to map "formal"
names to login names and it used to be re-written also in the
envelope. Well, this is no longer the case. The "From:" field is
correctly re-written but the envelope is now unchanged.
I have fixed it with a hint from the FAQs which is, at least to my
eyes, an abomination (it is the trick for fixing Pine and friends).
What also puzzles me is that, possibly due to my dementia, the machine
would accept 'A.N.Other' but not 'A.N.Other_at_domain.com'. Indeed the
'stickyhost' option was incorrectly in the config file but does this
mean that 8.9.0 was so broken it ignored it??
Could someone explain what changed/broke between 8.9.0 and 8.9.3 on
alpha (or elsewhere if this is the case)?
Arrigo
