My original question:
Managers,
I am attempting to add a new KZPAC-AA single channel RAID controller
w/ a new BA356 pedestal that has 5 new - 9.1 GB drives in it to an
AlphaStation 255/233. I have experience with adding/configuring RAID sets
on a couple of Alpha 2100 servers, so I assumed that this Alpha would be
similar. After figuring out how to switch the consoles from SRM to ARC, we
tried to run the RCU (Raid configuration utility). The utility would query
the drives, and then fail with: NT firmware monitor - ' *** Native D-Stream
TB Miss occurred'. We attempted to use an earlier version of the standalone
configuration utility 'SWXCRMGR'. This utility queried the drives, and then
loaded successfully. However, when looking at the drive groups there was no
drives found. I assume the older version did not recognize the new 'Ultra'
SCSI drives. Any help would be appreciated. I just do not want to find out
that this controller and drives are not supported on the 255/233s. We have
looked for compatibility specs, but we have not found anything conclusive.
TIA,
- SDM
Thanks to Jorge Silvestre for pointing me in the right direction. He said
that the firmware on the Alpha may not support the 9GB disks. That was
enough for me to look for and find the correct firmware CD 5.2. I was then
able to get the RAID configuration utility to load properly. I am currently
initializing the RAID sets now.
Thanks Jorge,
