third-party PCI serial card installation in AS500?

Dear Alpha Guru's,

I need some more serial ports on an AS500 (to drive some fax modems) so I
tried installed a PCI serial card. But DU4.0E is not recognising the PCI
card. This is what I see at boot up -

PCI device at bus 0, slot 12, function 0 could not be configured:
Vendor ID 0x10b5, Device ID 0x9050, Base class 0x2, Sub class 0x80
 Sub-VID 0xd84d Sub-DID 0x6808
has no matching entry in the PCI option table

What to do?

Installing an ISA serial card in a AS255 worked fine (after setting the
IRQ/address appropriately). The AS500 only has PCI slots however.
