Hello Managers,
What a great list, as usual. Thanks to the following for fast and
VERY HELPFUL replies:

I'm all wrong about having to do stepwise firmware upgrades
to go from version x firmware to version y firmware. You should
always be able to go directly from whatever version you are on
to whatever version you wish, no matter how big the leap.
The cd rom media is at fault -- it happens to be bad. Hence the
"Invalid image" on the display. Another surprise to me was that
this phenomenon of Digital shipping out bad cdrom media is not
that unusual.
Anyway here is the list of firmware update CD versions
from 3.8 thru 5.3:
v3.8, v3.9, v5.0, v5.1, v5.2, v5.3

Does anyone know how many Firmware Update versions on cd
there are between V3.8 (shipped with DU 4.0B)
and V5.2 (shipped with DU 4.0D) ???
If you do, please tell me their version names. It will aid me
in borrowing the ones I need from our local Compaq support engineers.
I think I've discovered that I cannot upgrade directly. When I
boot the v5.2 Firmware Update cd and do the "list" command,
"Invalid image" shows up like this:
Device Current Revision Filename Update Revision
arcflash 4.50-1 arcrom 4.56-0
srmflash 4.7-143 srmrom Invalid image
... blah, blah, blah ...
I'll summarize, of course. Thanks.
