I am a suspect in a case involving a broken data tape and I would like to present evidence of the known physical limitations of Q.I.C. 600 or data cartridge tape of 1.2 GB. In this country, power outages occur quite frequently and for some time...up to 8 hours. The equipment I use is directly connected to the wall outlet without UPS or regulator. Personally, I believe that frequent, long term power outages caused the tape to snap and I would also like to know if any of your stress tests bear this out.
In addition I would like to have detailed information on the 8 general causes that can damage a Q.I.C. 600 data cartridge tape of 1.2 GB.

1. Use in a dirty environment
2. Physical damage
3. Exposure to an external magnetic field
4. Use in a machine with dirty heads
5. Use in machine with a sharp edge on head
6. Interruption of power while in use
7. Spike or surge in power while in use
8. Foreign matter (coffee, tea, soda)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this e-mail and I would be extremely grateful for any help you can give me. Please reply to the following e-mail address:
