rdump/vdump-dd slowness problems....

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on speeding up rdumps on
Digital Unix 4.0d machines - I have a number of boxes
(800's,1200's,4100's) but a small number of local drives. Local dumps work
fine but using rdump (even over a switched 100 mbps backbone on the same
subnet) the throughput is so slow it is unacceptable. I have the
performance issues using vdump with dd for AdvFs also.

Any performance enhancements or tweaks welcome - just looks broken to me
;-(

fyi. I rdump similar sized paritions over on the same subnet using Solaris
boxes and they are 16-20 times quicker....

Grant Schoep (grant_at_storm.com) has reported a similar problem to the
list afaik.

any suggestions welcome.
