Hi all,

does anyone have a boiled down set of instructions for how to increase the
number of allowable file descriptors from the backwards compatible hard
limit of 4k to the DU4 limit of 64k. Do I have to do it on a per process
basis (as I fear) or can I change it globally for all processes. Do any
other kernel settings have to be modified to account for the new file
descriptor limit?

Operating system is 4.0D with patch 3
Hardware is Alpha Workstation 500au with 1 GB RAM

thanks for the help,

neil morley - ucla
