Hello,
I run a DU 4.0D 1000A server with several internal disks and intend to
add some more disks. These will be attached externally with a seperate
controller. Some of the data now stored on internal disks will then be
moved to external disks.
I want to start using LSM for flexibility and safeguarding against disk
failures. I have the following problems:
1. I understand from previous posts and some man pages that I can mirror
the disk containing root, /usr and a swap filesystem to an identical
second disk. Can I do this with my existing /, /usr, swap filesystems or
do I have to do a complete reinstallation?
2. Following the DU documentation about LSM I would implement at least
one disk group for the external disks and another one for the internal
disks. Is it then possible to move the external disks to another server
and serve the data from this second server in case my 1000A dies? Which
steps are necessary besides enabling LSM on the second server and
changing some exports and fstab files?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ralf Eichmann
