There was some discussion a while ago about setting shared memory
params in conjunction with Oracle(in my case Oracle 8.0.4.0.0).
I want to increase shm-max so my SGA(which I want to make eventually 50MB;
my current SGA is 17MB) will fit into one shared memory segment.
The shared memory params I think I need to adjust are set to:
shm-max=4194304
shm-min=1
shm-mni=128
shm-seg=32
My Oracle instance starts up fine with the above parameters(with init.ora
parameters for db_block_buffers=3200, shared_pool_size=9000000,sort_area_size=
65536, log_buffer=163840) In experimenting with adjusting shm-max
with sysconfigdb to double(shm-max=8388608) its current size, my instance
no longer starts. If anyone is working with this stuff now I'd like
to know what I'm missing is trying to adjust these parameters.
