I have been running an NTP time server on a Tru64 box under V3.2C for
some time. To meet Y2K compliance rules I had to upgrade to
V4.0D. I am running xntpd3-5.91, not the ntpd that comes with DU.
After the upgrade I found that ntp would not start. It fired up,
forked the process, and hung there forever, eating all available
CPU. If I disconnect the clock (Spectracom Netclock/2), it starts up
fine. I can then re-connect the clock and all is well until the system
reboots or I restart the NTP server. Then it hangs again.
I tried rebuilding xntpd to no avail. I also tried building ntp-4.0.92e
and the same thing happens. Finally I ran the xntpd that came with DU,
but it fared no better. :-(
Any idea what is going on here? Looks like it MIGHT have something to
do with disconnecting from the terminal, but I'm not too sure.
