Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my Alphastation 200 4/233 on boot that I can't
solve. I'm running DU4.0D patchkit 3 and using advfs.
The boot messages are as per usual until we get to:
Mounting / (root)
user_cfg_pt: reconfigured
exec: /sbin/mount_nonfs -F 81920 root_domain#root /
mount: can't exec /sbin/mount_nonfs: No such file or directory
.
.
update: started.
INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly.
id: cons "/usr/sbin/getty console console vt100"
check for possible errors
and hangs here.
I searched the archives and found that the init message about getty are
usual when the root filesystem has not been mounted - so I realise this
isn't the error.
I have run an advfscan -r on the disk after booting from the installation CD
and it finds the domains with no problems. The filesets with their original
names show for each domain using showfsets. I've mounted the root fileset
and had a look at the original /etc/fdmns and it looks fine.
There *is* no such file as /sbin/mount_nonfs on the disk as far as I can
see. I've had a look at other machines running 4.0D and E, and they don't
have a mount_nonfs file in sbin either. Am I missing something really
obvious here ?
help!
Thanks in advance,
Danielle Georgette
