We've got a bunch of alphas running variously DU and VMS and a bunch of
Apple LaserWriters on ethernet (EtherTalk). The VMS machines don't know
how to talk directly to the EtherTalk printers so they queue their
postscript print jobs through an intermediary.
That intermediary used to be an old microvax which we're trying to get rid
of, so we switched the remote print queues over to one of our our DU
machines (via lpr) which in turn talks to the printer using papof from the
CAP package.
The problem is we had a guy today print a 10 page DECWrite file and only
the first page came out. Under the old queueing system, the same file
printed fine. If I take his postscript output and feed it to lpr on one of
our other DU machines to the same print queue, it prints fine. It's only
when it gets passed from the VMS machine to the DU machine that only the
first page prints.
We're scratching our heads. Anybody seen anything like this before?
