Prolem with tape backup after upgrading to 4.0d

Hello,

I had posted a week or so ago with no luck, so am trying again.

We upgraded two 2100 servers running DU 4.0A to DU4.0D. On both, the tape
backups (which were previously running just fine) are now failing to backup
random filesystems. The backup starts, proceeds, dies for a particular
filesystem, then carries on. All filesystems are advfs. An excerpt from
vdump's output:

...
path : /oracle/index01
dev/fset : index01_dmn#index01
type : advfs
advfs id : 0x35663d8c.0004a580.1
vdump: Date of last level 0 dump: the start of the epoch
vdump: Dumping directories
vdump: Dumping 2863271936 bytes, 4 directories, 22 files
vdump: Dumping regular files

vdump: unable to write to device </dev/nrmt0h>; [5] I/O error
vdump: unable to prompt input for retry on device; [25] Not a typewriter
path : /oracle/index02
...

Subsequent filesystems may or may not be backed up okay. It is not always
the same filesystem which causes this error each time the backup runs, and
I can manually backup the filesystem which failed with no problems.

Any ideas?

Cheers!
Jon
