Legato evidently, literally, just began an agressive campaign to contact
NSR customers. So the word has just started going out.

Legato has a "Compaq Business Unit," which is handling the "special
incentive offer" valid until 31 August 1999.

The NSR retirement date is actually August 31, 2000.

Dear Software Product Services Customer:
    
Compaq Customer Services wishes to inform you that Compaq Computer
Corporation has begun a retirement process for The NetWorker Suite of
Products and all optional features:

* NetWorker for Digital Unix V5.2 and all optional features
* NetWorker for NT V5.1 and all optional features
* NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for SAP R/3 on Oracle for NT V1.2C
* NetWorker BusinesSuite Module on Oracle for Digital Unix V2.1B and
                        NT 2.1C
* NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for NT Exchange V1.1
* NetWorker Unix Client V5.2, NetWorker PC Client V5.1, NetWorker
                NetWare Client V4.1.2, NetWorker NT client V5.1, NetWorker
                Mac Client V1.2, and NetWorker Multi Client V1.0

        As a result of this retirement, Compaq Customer Services will no
longer be available for The NetWorker Suite of Products and optional
features as of August 31st, 2000.

        Remedial support for The NetWorker Suite of Products and optional
features will be provided through the Customer Support Centers in accordance
with the provisions of your maintenance contract through, but not beyond
August 31st, 2000. Warranty customers will receive support throughout their
initial warranty agreement.

        For products and versions that are not Y2K certified, Compaq
Customer Services will no longer be available as of December 31st, 1999.

        Remedial support for the attached list of products will be provided
through, but not beyond December 31, 1999, by the Customer Support Centers
in accordance with the provisions of your maintenance contract. However,
such remedial support will not include services to correct or repair any
Year 2000 date problem, related diminishment in performance, or
functionality of the product. This is a Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure by
Compaq Computer Corporation pursuant to the Year 2000 Information and
Readiness Disclosure Act of 1998.

* NetWorker for Digital Unix or NT V4.X
* NetWorker Database Module Application Interface for Informix for
                Digital Unix V1.1
* NetWorker Application Interface for SAP R/3 on Oracle for Digital
                Unix V1.2
* NetWorker Module for Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT and Unix
                V1.0

Compaq Customer Services recognizes that customers will require upgrades for
the NetWorker Suite of products and optional features. We, therefore
recommend that you contact Legato directly for your future NetWorker needs.

now until August 31st, 1999 Legato will offer special incentive discounts
for Compaq Service Customers who wish to upgrade their NetWorker products
and purchase service for Legato NetWorker products.

If you are currently running NetWorker for Digital Unix V4.x you may
continue to participate in the NetWorker V5.2 migration from LMF to Enabler
Technology until 14-Jun-99. Any requests to migrate after this 14-Jun-99
will be forwarded to Legato Corporation.
