Hi managers,
What file does /usr/bin/hostname check/modify to
get the hostname of the system?
/usr/bin/hostname returns the fully qualified
hostname on most of my systems (i.e. lando.starwars.com),
but only returns the short form (i.e. lando) on one system.
I've checked everywhere I can think of that has the hostname,
but every file looks the same as all my other machines.
If I use 'hostname' to set the hostname to the fully qualified
name, it seems to work and 'hostname' returns the full name from
then on. I'm just curious as to what is getting changed in case it
affects anything else...
Thanks for the help.
