We use Compaq's DHCP server joind. It works well for us except for one
problem. Occasionally, and only for Mac's, it will start to hand out bogus
IP addresses. It is supposed to hand out addresses in the range of
10.1.3.1 to 10.1.11.253. When it acts up it will hand out an address of
169.xxx.xxx.xxx, which I found out belongs to USC, quite a way from Iowa.
I can clear it up by doing a kill -1 joind PID. Unfortunately that is
after the fact when folks are already having problems. I have looked at
the config files and the logs and can't figure out anything. Has anyone
seen this and/or found an answer for why it happens?
