Thanks go to Lance Berc and Robert Maiello.
They both pointed out that I was placing the Xserver configuration
modifications into the wrong configuration file.
They also gave me some additional setting to try.
The Xserver configuration file(s) are:
for CDE - /usr/dt/config/Xservers
(copy it to /etc/dt/config/Xservers before modifying, RE:
dtlogin man page)
and for XDM - /usr/var/X11/xdm/Xservers
Modifying the Xservers entry:
:0 Local local_at_console /usr/bin/X11/X :0
to
:0 Local local_at_console /usr/bin/X11/X :0 -screen 1024x768 -vclass
PseudoColor
solved the resolution problems the application was experiencing!
--------------ORIGINAL MESSAGE --------------------
I am trying to get a demo package of a groundwater modeling product - GMS -
running on a personal workstation 500au. When I run the product, the button
area of the product's toolbox is not in a displayable resolution. It's as
if the screen resolution is not set high enough. The system is loaded with
a full installation of Tru64 v4.0D, Patch Kit #3. It has the 4D50T graphics
card, with Open3D v4.92 and the OpenGL license PAK installed.
I've been told to try setting the system to 12 bit color. But I am not
entirely certain how to accomplish this. I have tried the following line at
the bottom of the file /usr/var/X11/Xserver.conf:
-vclass TrueColor -screen 1024x768
with no noticeable change.
Can someone let me know how to get this workstation to 12 bit color under
either CDE or Dxsession? Or, if you are running this BOSS International
product, any details on customizations made would be appreciated.
