Question : volatile.dat

Hi again,

 After aplying patch kit 1 on Digital Unix 4.0e on an Alpha DEC 3000/400
a file apeared in /usr/lbin named volatile.dat with owner 5221 and group
31 (permissions 644). ** No other programs were installed **.
Of course there is no such user or group by default.

 Does anyone know anything about it ?
