I know there is some info on this in the archives but the search site has
not been available to me so...
I have an alphaserver 4000 running DU4.0D (hostA) which shares a directory
on a VME 5/480 also running DU4.0D(hostB).
hostB is often down because some development efforts on that machine crash
it frequently. When it is down, nobody can login to hostA because it is
trying to establish the link to hostB.
In the file share utility, I have hostB:/usr/users/ mounted to hostA's
/nfs/hostB/
When up, hostA's 'mount' returns:
root_domain#root on / type advfs (rw)
/proc on /proc type procfs (rw)
usr_domain#usr on /usr type advfs (rw)
product#rootX on /rootX type advfs (rw)
.
.
.
product#rootZ on /rootZ type advfs (rw)
hostB:/usr/users on /nfs/hostB type nfs (v3, rw, udp, hard, intr)
This works great when hostB is up but it goes down enough that I am getting
a lot of complaints that people cannot login.
I know there can be a problem if you have two mount points in the same path
but I think I have avoided that.
What am I doing wrong?
