SUMMARY: Kernel recompile, ace_regbase, and ECU reprised

Problem solved.. The earlier answers (run ECU) were correct,
but incomplete; the ECU needs to be run from floppy. The
version in the console firmware (started by 'P00>>ecu' with no
floppy in the drive) doesn't cut it.
