Is there anything specific to the DEC Alpha or Digital Unix 4.0d that
suggests I should be rebooting my server every weekend?
I run Oracle 7.3.4 on this server and shutdown the database every weekend
for backups. Since all processing on the server happens through sqlnet
connections to the database, I consider the server "cleaned up" if I just
shutdown the database. I don't see any evidence of rogue processes or
needing to clean out the shared memory.
Is there any good reason to be cycling the server itself?
TIA
