I am trying to compress a tar file using the compress command.
If I use the -v flag I get a -24.21% compress and --file unchanged.
It does not produce a .Z file.
To get a .Z file extension I have to use a -F flag, but the compress tar
file is then larger the file I was trying to compress.
Am I missing something here. Does OSF not like to compress tar files
