Hi!

After experiencing a problem with simple-lock panics in our 8200 5/300
(4 CPUs) I asked this list for opinions about Tru64 Unix reliability.

I received 21 responses. All respondents addressing the more general
question of reliability appear highly satisfied with Tru64 Unix, some
ranking it as one of the most reliable Unixes available. One respondent
thought of Digital Unix as "most stable, least patched, and most secure".

Those respondents who addressed the simple-lock panic in particular
suggested that a fix is most likely contained in patch kit 3 for
Digital Unix 4.0D. The simple-lock may well be caused by a bug in
the (advanced?) file system code fixed at patch level 3. We do work
our disks hard, as our memory is substantially underconfigured
(only 0.5 GB).

Thank You all respondents.

:)
