Since years I am working satisfactorily on my alpha/OSF1 workstation
OSF1 V2.0 240 alpha DEC3000_300 (300lx)
with an eve/tpu-editor, which actually runs as an emulation of eve/tpu
from our former vax/vms environments which I received from a helpful
DEC expert, the name of whom I have lost from my records,
unfortunately!
My home directory is on a different machine SGI/IRIX5.3
(subject to routine-backups)
because I am an exotice with my DEC-alpha within an SGI-cluster
and this ran for years without troubles.
Any time, when there is a file involved for certain SGI-machines
(running under 6.x or sometimes even IRIX5.3) the corresponding
file access is denied.
(Maybe due to NFS-rpc-problems?)
example err msg:
"unable to access file usr/home/myhome/e/evi.tpu_section"
"RMS-F-DME: Dynamic memory exhausted"
My eve-emulation still runs fine when all files involved are
either on the local machine
or on certain other IRIX5.3 or Linux(intel586).
Who knows a solution?
----------------
Moreover, I heard, that my hardware level is not y2k-capable.
Y2K would require a minimum of level 4.0d -operating system.
Is there an affordable solution for me to have a
Digital Unix hardware with an eve/tpu-software?
regards,
Peter Hermann
