Here's an issue I don't think I've seen discussed in this forum:
How do you perform "quality" or "qualification" tests on DLT-IV
media used in TZ88 devices?
I have two DLT Jukeboxes that have been in service now for almost
three years. Some of the tapes remain in these jukeboxes all the
time (incremental backup tapes, for example). I have no good way
of knowing how many head passes these tapes have had. I would
like to run a quality check on these tapes when they become reusable
to see if they are still usable (that is, are there any significant
error blocks on them).
Any suggestions -- other than tapex?
I will summarize.
TIA!
