I recently installed an ELSA GLORIA synergy video card on a digital unix
box (PC-164LX motherboard) running DU4.0D. This was a video card suggested
by the digital web site along with the specification that OPEN3d4.92 is
necessary. Everything installed well and the card defaulted to high res and
8plane graphics mode. I tried to force a 24 plane mode by modifying the
/var/dt/Xservers file to include the options -vclass0 TrueColor.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to force a 24plane mode but instead a
16plane mode. [Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I am also using Pro
Engineer which thinks that is should have 24 planes (probably due to the
TrueColor specificaiton) and has big colormapping problems when it only has
16 planes.] Based on this, I really think that I need to force the 24 plane
mode but am unsure why it isn't already being enforced. The graphics card
has 8MB and should be able to go to 1280X1024X24planes according to product
literature and the open3d install manual which states that the elsa gloria
and powerstorm 4d10t should be treated as if they are the same.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to set the 24plane mode.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce
