Failure Recovery testing

Hi all,
    I have a tolerance failure recovery question. I have a Dual Processor
AlphaServer 1200 running DU 4.0D. I need to know that it can function with only
one of it's power supplies working.

In the past I have accomplished this with the temporary removal of 4 x 9 GB
Drives.

I am wondering if 4.0D would have any major short term problems in functioning
using a single CPU rather than both to lower power consumption.

All comments, theories and caveats warmly welcomed.
