oracle/unix tablespace filename

Hi,

I have the following problem and I would appreciate any help I can get.

When a datafile was added to a tablespace on our Oracle database,
a non-printable character was included in the filename. Oracle fed this

name to the OS and is able to update the file. However, when doing
backups the same filename returned from dba_data_files is stripped of
the non-printable character; consequently, the OS returns "file not
found"
and the file is not backed.

How can get out of this bind?

Thank You Much,

ard
