Problem with Xwindows and SPSS 6.1

After having installed SPSS 6.1 on an AlphaServer 8200, I am able to run
programs with SPSS in batch mode, but I cannot get SPSS to operate in
Xwindows graphical mode on my AlphaStation 255. Both the 8200 and the 255
are running DU 4.0D and I can run other apps such as Netscape in this
configuration just fine. I have posted this problem on an SPSS newsgroup
and I am awaiting feedback from SPSS's tech support folks on this, but
thus far, nothing's been of help. Two of my colleagues who are involved in
testing SPSS say it works fine on their PCs with M/IX in Xwindows mode,
but for me, SPSS simply displays a large window for under a second before
it disappears then drops core and displays the following error message:

  /var/local/SPSS/spss611dux/bin/spss[139]: 255 Memory fault

Does anyone have any idea as to what's wrong? I have gone through all the
documentation carefully and did everything that's recommended there, but
to no avail. I am stumped as to why I can't get SPSS to open up an
Xwindows window on my Ditial Unix workstation, but two colleague who use a
PC with Windows 95 can.
