Hi Gurus,

Thanks for all who have given suggestions until now:

Mary J. Aumann
Marie-Claude Vialatte
Jim Fitzmaurice
Benjamin Smith
Chuck Moore

Most have suggested the t_failures field in the tcb ttys database
could be causing the problem. However if I issue

# /tcb/bin/edauth -g -d t console

I get

console:\
        :t_devname=console:t_uid=xxxxxxxx:t_logtime#929125826:chkent:

or

# /tcb/bin/edauth -g -d t tty00

tty00:\
        :t_devname=tty00:chkent:

i.e., I cannot find any t_failures field. Curiously enough, I can
login from X-terminal or emulators running on pc's with no problem.
But the console is still stuck. Rebooting does not solve the problem.
Still seeking for more suggestions from you!!!
