My original question was:
I've got a huge task ahead of me...I'm transferring all the data from
a 3.2c server to a 4.0f server (different hardware and the
like...dont
ask....).
When converting the BASE password file to Enhanced security, How can
i
not make it automatically expire every account?
And many thanks to Richard Rogers for the answer (which is hopefully
easily done *grin*)
You want the -u option to convuser. I would imagine your best course
of action will be something like...
1. Set up the new machine and convert it to C2 security.
2. Add the password entries required from the old machine (you may
not want to carry over old "system" entries - root, uucp, bin, etc,
but use the newly set up ones. The choice is yours, but if you want
to
carry over the old, you will need to delete the new at this point)
3. convuser -a -u -c (-c avoids re-doing the previously converted
entries - if you've carried over old entries you may need to do these
specifically (depending whether you got rid of the C2 entries at (2)
above), e.g. convuser -a -u bin uucp root whatever)
4. Job done.
Wish me luck on the migration :)
