Hi Managers,

Although several friends found the problem could have been generated
by the t_failures field in the tcb ttys database, this was not the
case since

# /tcb/bin/edauth -g -d t console

produced

console:\
        :t_devname=console:t_uid=xxxxxxxx:t_logtime#929125826:chkent:

and no t_failures field appear. The solution came by digging a little our
list archives. In a message posted on the same problem in 12/09/96 someone
mentioned using /usr/tcb/bin/dxdevices to fix this kind of trouble. So
I login from a x-terminal as root and run dxdevices. I found the console
login timeout field was zeroed. Changed that to 60 sec and now the console
is working properly again.
