Our AlphaServer 2100 running DEC Unix 4.0B has just started mysteriously
dropping telnet connections. After a user's session gets disconnected,
he can immediately log back in again with no problem and start working
for awhile until his connection gets dropped again. Network
connectivity seems to be ok as far as I can see as everyone can always
get logged in when they want be eventually lose the connection at some
point. Could this be a case of telnet "timing-out" for some reason? Is
there a way to test for this ? I've checked all the usual logs (syslog &
/var/adm/messages) and uerf for possible errors but nothing is being
reported.
We've never had this problem before and right now there are no obvious
indicators as to why this is happening.
Any advice/pointers would be helpful.
TIA,
